Zequinha de Abreu was a renowned Brazilian composer, born on September 19, 1880, in the city of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro. He started playing the harmonica at a young age and later learned to play the piano, flute, and violin. Abreu composed a number of popular Brazilian songs throughout his life, but his most famous piece by far is "Tico-Tico no Fubá."

"Tico-Tico no Fubá" was composed in 1917 and became an instant hit. The song's catchy melody and intricate rhythms were unlike anything heard before in Brazilian music, and it quickly became a standard in the samba and choro genres. The song was covered by many artists, both in Brazil and around the world, and was even featured in the Disney film "Saludos Amigos" in 1942.

Abreu wrote music for many other occasions, including orchestral suites, waltzes, and marches. Some of his other popular songs include "Cortina D'Água," "Branca," and "Tardes em Lindóia." He was respected as a composer and performer, and his works have continued to be popular and influential in Brazilian music.

Sadly, Zequinha de Abreu passed away in São Paulo on January 22, 1935, at the young age of 54. However, his music lives on as a testament to his talent and contribution to Brazilian music.
