Tomislav Zografski was a Macedonian composer who was born on April 6, 1977, in Skopje, Macedonia. He started his musical career as a solo pianist and later turned to composition. Zografski received a diploma in composition from the Music Academy in Skopje and continued his studies in Graz, Austria, where he earned a master's degree in composition.
Zografski's work is characterized by his unique approach to fusing traditional Macedonian folk music with contemporary classical music. He has composed numerous works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, vocal and instrumental soloists, as well as for electronic media. Zografski's music has been performed across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
In 2005, Zografski was awarded the prestigious Stevan Mokranjac Award for his contribution to the development of Macedonian music. His works have been commissioned and performed by renowned orchestras and ensembles such as the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra, among others.
Aside from his compositions, Zografski was also a professor of composition at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje and a member of the Macedonian Composers Association. Sadly, Tomislav Zografski passed away on December 8, 2020, at the age of 43, leaving behind a legacy of outstanding compositions that continue to inspire and captivate music lovers worldwide
