Wilhelm Taubert was a German pianist , composer, and conductor, born on March 23, 1811, and passed away on January 7, 1891. He was also the father of the German philologist and writer Emil Taubert. Taubert received his musical education from his older brother Eduard, as well as from Julius Stern and Siegfried Dehn. He later became the conductor of the Berlin Royal Opera, where he worked for more than three decades.

As a composer, Taubert wrote a variety of works, including piano sonatas, large orchestral works, chamber music, and two piano concertos. He also composed a Bacchanale and a violin concerto, among other pieces. Taubert's compositions were well-regarded during his lifetime, and he was considered a leading figure in the German music scene of the 19th century.
