Asencio studied music at the Valencia Conservatory where his passion for guitar music first emerged. It was there that he met guitarist Narciso Yepes, who would later become the dedicatee of some of Asencio's most famous works.
Asencio's repertoire includes solo works for the guitar such as "Suite de homenajes", "Collectici intim" and "Fantasia for guitar", as well as pieces for the guitar and other instruments such as "Sonatina for guitar and harp" and "Duo for violin and guitar". He also contributed to the composition of various ensemble pieces, theater music, and music for film.
