Ron Goodwin (1925-2003) was a British composer and conductor known for his film music. He scored over 70 films in his career, including "Where Eagles Dare," "Battle of Britain," and "633 Squadron." Goodwin started his career as a composer and arranger for big bands before moving on to film music in the late 1950s. He received critical acclaim for his scores, and his music has become synonymous with British cinema of the 1960s and 1970s.

Goodwin's style is characterized by his use of strong and memorable melodies, brass fanfares, and lush orchestration. His music often evokes a sense of patriotism and heroism and is frequently used in films of the World War II era.

In addition to his film work, Goodwin also composed for television and the concert hall. He wrote music for the BBC and served as conductor of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
