Peter Griesbacher (25 March 1864 – 28 January 1933) was a German classical composer , organist, and bell expert. He was born in Egglham and lived a life dedicated to his music and passion for bells. Griesbacher's compositions, which were mostly choral, were heavily influenced by the Cecilian Movement, a religious movement that aimed to reform church music by returning to strict classical forms.

Griesbacher's Missa "Rosa Mystica," based on the a cappella of the Cecilian Movement, is one of his most popular works. He also composed a Stabat Mater for mixed male choir and a Missa Dominicalis , among other pieces. Griesbacher was a member of the Cecilian Movement himself, alongside other notable composers such as Pietro Alfieri and Fran.

In addition to his work as a composer, Griesbacher was also an expert in the field of bells. His expertise led him to co-author a book on bell ringing and to design several bell installations, including a carillon tower in Welsberg-Taisten and a peal of bells in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Salzburg.

Despite his contributions to the world of music, Griesbacher is not as well-known as some of his contemporaries. However, his dedication to his craft and his unique contributions to the Cecilian Movement and the field of bell-ringing make him a notable figure in classical music history.
