Paolo Agostino was an Italian composer and organist of the early Baroque era. He was born around 1583, possibly in Vallerano, near Viterbo. Agostino studied under Giovanni Bernardino Nanino, and later became an accomplished composer in his own right. Agostino's surviving works are primarily religious in nature, reflecting the influence of Catholic liturgical music on his compositions. Along with his contemporaries, Agostino helped to lay the groundwork for Baroque music, which would go on to become one of the most important musical genres of the era. Despite his contributions, Agostino's music is relatively lesser-known today. Nonetheless, his influence on the development of Baroque music should not be overlooked, and his compositions remain a testament to his skill and dedication as a composer.
