Max Richter is a German-born British composer and pianist known for his postminimalist style and emotive film and television soundtracks. He was born on March 22, 1966, in Hamelin, Lower Saxony, West Germany. Richter began his musical career in the early 1990s as a founding member of the avant-garde piano trio, Piano Circus. He later went on to work with renowned musicians, including Future Sound of London and Roni Size.
Richter gained widespread recognition as a composer in the early 2000s, primarily for his scores for films such as "Waltz with Bashir," "Shutter Island," and "Miss Sloane." He also created the score for the HBO television series "The Leftovers."
In addition to his work as a composer, Richter has received critical acclaim for his solo albums, including "The Blue Notebooks" and "Infra." He often incorporates chamber music, electronic elements, and found sounds into his compositions, creating a unique and highly emotive sound.
