Klaus Schedl was a German composer known for his contributions to contemporary classical music. He was born on August 5, 1957 and passed away on November 30, 2000. Schedl studied music with notable composers such as Adriana Holszky and Helmut Lachenmann. He also had students of his own, including Klaus Wiede and Stefan Thomas.

Schedl's compositions were heavily influenced by his interest in extreme and unconventional music, including black metal. His piece "Selbsthenker II" is an example of this influence. In addition to his interest in unconventional sounds and styles, Schedl also had an appreciation for music from other cultures. He collaborated with Yanomami shamans from the Amazon region to develop a cross-cultural music workshop.

Schedl's contributions to contemporary classical music continue to be recognized and studied. Research on music information retrieval has used his compositions as examples to identify and classify different music genres.
