Giovanni Battista Fasolo was a notable Italian composer who lived during the Baroque period in music. He was born in 1598 in Gasparina, a small village near Verona.
Fasolo was known for his contribution to the development of the organ and the art of playing it. He was also an accomplished organist himself and wrote numerous works for the instrument.
His best-known work is the collection "Annuale, seu Sinfoniae", which contains a series of sacred works written in the typical style of the Baroque era. This collection includes pieces such as "Laudate Dominum", "Magnificat", and "Gloria in excelsis Deo".
Apart from his works for the organ, Fasolo was also known for his contribution to the development of Italian opera. In fact, he is credited with being one of the first composers to use recitative, a style of singing that imitates the rhythms and intonations of everyday speech.
