Erno Balogh (1897-1989) was a prominent Hungarian pianist, composer, and writer. He was born as Ernest Barlough, but later changed his name to Erno Balogh. Balogh's father was a violinist, and he himself was trained musically from an early age. He studied piano, composition, and musicianship at the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy of Music. In addition to his studies, Balogh was exposed to a wide range of musical styles during his childhood, including classical, folk, and Gypsy music.

Balogh was an accomplished pianist and performed extensively both as a soloist and chamber musician. He also wrote works for piano, as well as for larger ensembles, such as string quartets and symphonies. Balogh was interested in a wide range of musical styles, and his compositions often drew from Hungarian folk music and Gypsy music. He also wrote a play, in addition to his musical works.

Balogh was a teacher of music and taught at several institutions, including the Budapest Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he was a professor of piano and composition. He also taught at the New England Conservatory of Music, and his name was listed on his programs in the United States.

Balogh was part of the Hungarian musical community that emigrated to the United States after World War II. During his career, he collaborated with many prominent musicians, including Miklos Rozsa, a composer and conductor, and Lotte Lehmann, a renowned soprano. Balogh also served as a mentor to Anton Kuerti, a Canadian pianist and composer.
