Domènech Terradellas was a renowned composer in the 18th century. Born in Reus, Tarragona, Spain, in 1711, he started his musical training as a choirboy in the Cathedral of Tarragona. Later on, he moved to Barcelona to study music with Francisco Valls, who was a prominent composer of the time.

Terradellas composed a wide range of music, including operas, zarzuelas, sacred music, and instrumental pieces. He was highly regarded for his operas, which were performed in Spain and Italy. In 1739, he premiered his opera "Sant'Elena al Calvario" in Venice, which was well received by the audience and established his reputation as a composer.

Apart from his operas, Terradellas also composed sacred music, including Masses, motets, and hymns. He worked as a chapel master in various churches in Madrid, where he composed music for religious ceremonies.

Throughout his career, Terradellas received recognition and honors for his contributions to music. He was appointed as the Chapel Master of the Royal Chapel of Madrid in 1760 and was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Charles III by King Charles III in 1767.

Domènech Terradellas passed away in Madrid in 1751, leaving behind a rich legacy of music that continues to be performed and celebrated today.
