Octave Octavian Teodorescu was a Romanian composer, conductor, and musicologist. Born in Bucharest in 1928, he began studying music at a young age and went on to graduate from the National University of Music in Bucharest with degrees in composition and conducting.

Teodorescu's compositions were influenced by the traditional music of Romania, as well as by the avant-garde movements of the mid-20th century. He became known for his experimental techniques, blending elements of polytonality, atonality, and serialism in his works.

Throughout his career, Teodorescu also worked as a conductor, leading several orchestras in Romania and abroad. He was particularly interested in promoting the works of contemporary Romanian composers, and he often included their works in his concerts.

In addition to his work as a composer and conductor, Teodorescu was also a respected musicologist. He published several books and articles on the history of music in Romania, and he was a frequent lecturer at universities and conservatories around the world.

Teodorescu received many awards and honors for his contributions to Romanian music, including the National Order of Merit and the Romanian Academy Prize. He continued to compose, conduct, and teach until his death in 1992, leaving behind a legacy of innovative and influential music.
