Conrad Eduard Reinhold Ansorge was a notable German pianist , teacher, and composer, born on October 15, 1862, and died on February 13, 1930. Ansorge began his music education in his hometown of Buchwald, Silesia (which is now Poland), before moving to Berlin to study at the Royal Academy of Music. There, he studied piano under the renowned pianist and teacher Franz Liszt's pupil Carl Tausig, as well as composition under Friedrich Kiel.

Ansorge went on to become a celebrated pianist, performing throughout Europe and the United States, where he also taught at the Juilliard School in New York City. In addition to his work as a pianist, Ansorge also composed extensively, with works ranging from chamber music to orchestral works to a piano concerto and two symphonies. Among his notable compositions are a Requiem and an opera, both of which were well-received during his lifetime.

Ansorge was also a significant figure in the musical world of his time, and his students include notable figures such as James Simon, a composer, pianist, and musicologist, and Selim Palmgren, a Finnish composer. He was also an influence on the composer Gustav Mahler, who conducted a performance of one of Ansorge's symphonies during his tenure as conductor of the Vienna Court Opera.
