Antonio Besozzi was an Italian oboist and composer who lived from 1714 to 1781. He was a member of the ducal Guardia Irlandese , a hautboy band created by Antonio Maria Ercole , Duke of Monferrato, in 1714. Besozzi was born into a family of musicians, his father Carlo Besozzi was also an oboist and composer. Antonio Besozzi's musical talent was recognized at a young age, and he quickly rose to become one of the most celebrated oboists of his time.
Besozzi composed a number of works, including several oboe concertos and sonatas. His compositions are characterized by their virtuosic technical demands, as well as their lyrical and expressive melodies. In addition to his compositions, Besozzi is also known for his contributions to the development of oboe playing technique. He was one of the first oboists to experiment with new techniques, such as double tonguing and circular breathing.
