Alois Ickstadt (1930–2012) was a German composer, pianist, choral conductor, and music educator. He studied music pedagogy at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and later at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. Ickstadt became a professor of choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart and was also a visiting professor at various universities in Europe and Japan.

Ickstadt was known for his work in choral music, having founded a children's choir and an adult choir in Frankfurt. He also conducted numerous choirs, including the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln, the Philharmonischer Chor München, and the Ensemble vocal de Lausanne. Additionally, Ickstadt was a prolific composer, with works ranging from choral music and opera to piano and chamber music.

Throughout his career, Ickstadt received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to music, including the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Cultural Prize of the City of Stuttgart. His legacy continues through the Alois Ickstadt Stiftung, a foundation established to promote and support the performance and composition of choral music.
