Zygmunt Stojowski (1870-1946) was a Polish composer, pianist and teacher, who lived in Paris from 1888 to 1906 and gained a reputation as a world-class concert pianist , as well as a fine composer. He was invited to teach at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in 1925 and remained there until 1946, the year of his death.

Stojowski's compositions include orchestral works, chamber music, piano music, and vocal music. Some of his most notable compositions include the Cello Sonata in A Major, Op. 18, the Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp Minor, Op. 3, and the Piano Concerto No. 2 in A-flat Major, Op. 32. His music is characterized by its romanticism, lush harmonies, and virtuosic piano writing.

Besides, Stojowski was committed to promoting the music of his fellow Polish composers, including his friend Ignacy Paderewski. He founded the Polish Conservatory in New York City in 1918 and served as its director until 1927. Additionally, he wrote essays and articles on piano teaching , contributing to the music magazine The Etude.

Despite his accomplishments and contributions to the world of music , Stojowski's name became largely forgotten after his death until recent times, when renewed interest in his life and works emerged.
