Petar Stojanović (1877-1957) was a Serbian composer and violinist of Hungarian descent, born in Budapest, Hungary. He was a notable figure in Serbian music history, admired for his virtuoso violin playing and skillful composition. Stojanović studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Budapest, where he excelled in violin performance under the guidance of Jenő Hubay.

In addition to his solo performances and compositions, Stojanović also collaborated with other prominent composers and musicians during his career. He wrote music for various chamber ensembles and orchestras, as well as for choir and solo voice.

Many of his compositions were influenced by the national music of his homeland, Serbia, and incorporated elements of the national folk music into his works. Some of his most noteworthy pieces include his Violin Concerto No. 1 and Violin Concerto No. 2, as well as his Sonata for Violin and Piano.

Despite his talents, Petar Stojanović's works rarely gained fame outside Serbia. However, his contributions to Serbian music are widely recognized and celebrated. In 2021, the Foreign Studies of the Serbian Composers published a paper on the importance of his work and legacy, describing him as an exceptional composer and violinist and recognizing his role in shaping Serbian music.
