Full biography Walford Davies
Sir Henry Walford Davies , KCVO OBE, was an English composer, organist, and educator born on September 6, 1869, and passed away on March 11, 1941. He was known for his contribution to music education and as the Master of the King's Music from 1934 until his death.
Davies studied at the Royal College of Music in London and later served as a professor of music at the same institution. He also served as a music director at several prestigious institutions such as the Temple Church in London and the University of Wales.
As a composer, Davies produced a wide array of works including orchestral, chamber, and choral compositions as well as hymns. Some of his notable works include "Everyman," "Requiem," and his setting of the hymn "O Little Town of Bethlehem." He was also one of the organizers of the coronation music for King George VI in 1937.
Throughout his career, Davies was recognized for his contributions to music education, and he held various positions in music institutions. His legacy continues to this day, and his compositions are still highly regarded and performed in many concerts and music events around the world.
