Full biography Victor Jacobi
Victor Jacobi, also known as Jakobi Viktor, was a prominent Hungarian composer of operettas. He was born on October 22, 1883, in Budapest, Hungary, and died on December 10, 1921, in New York City, United States. Jacobi studied at the Zeneakademia (Academy of Music) in Budapest before working as a pianist at the Royal Hungarian Opera. His musical career quickly took off, and he composed numerous operettas throughout his life.
Jacobi's early works included "The Princess of the Circus" (1912) and "Tiefland" (1913), but it was his operetta "Sari" (1914) that brought him international fame. "Sari" was immensely popular and played in theaters around the world. Other notable works by Jacobi include "Ein Walzertraum" (1910), "Herbstmanover" (1912), and "Die ganze Welt" (1919).
Jacobi's compositions blended traditional Hungarian folk music with Viennese-style operetta, creating a unique musical style that was both modern and nostalgic. He was known for his lush orchestrations and memorable melodies, which captured the spirit of the era.
Jacobi's life was tragically cut short at the age of 38, when he died of pneumonia in New York City. However, his legacy lives on through his timeless music, which continues to be performed and enjoyed by audiences around the world.
