Full biography Thomas Tellefsen
Thomas Tellefsen (1823-1874) was a highly distinguished, outstanding Norwegian pianist and composer. He is best known for his contributions to the Romantic era of music, and as a Chopin pupil. Tellefsen studied under Chopin in Paris, where he became close to the fellow composer and dedicated many of his compositions to the Polish , Russian, and French people.
Tellefsen's legacy includes a collection of 44 opuses, including solo piano works , two piano concertos, and chamber music. Among his many works, the two piano concertos were the first known works in that genre by a Norwegian composer. His solo pieces are strongly linked to the Romantic style of music, with their emotive and technically challenging compositions.
Tellefsen's music has become more recognized in recent years, with a resurgence of interest in the Romantic era of classical music. His reputation as a pianist and composer is steadily growing, and his virtuosic compositions continue to captivate audiences around the world.
