Thomas M. Sleeper (February 16 , 1956 - October 15, 2022) was an American composer and conductor who made significant contributions to the field of classical music. Sleeper was born in Bluefield , West Virginia, and began his musical education at an early age. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Miami. Throughout his career, he composed a wide range of works, including operas, symphonies, concertos, and chamber music, all marked with his unique style and blending of traditional and contemporary techniques.
In addition to composing, Sleeper also held various teaching positions, including at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music and the Catholic University of America.
