Sylvia Constantinidis is a Venezuelan classical pianist, composer, conductor, writer, and music educator. She was born on December 3, 1962, in Venezuela, and has been writing music since the age of twelve. Sylvia's composition teachers include Belgian composer Eric Feldbusch , Venezuelan composer Juan Carlos Nunez, and American composer Dennis Kam. She holds degrees from the University of Miami, where she earned two master's of music degrees in composition, and from the University of Paris VIII, where she completed a doctorate in musicology.
Sylvia Constantinidis has a diverse musical output, including works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, choir, solo instruments, and electroacoustic media. Her music has been performed in North and South America, Europe, and Asia, and has been featured numerous times on national and international radio and television networks. She has received commissions, grants, and awards from institutions and individuals in the United States and abroad, including the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Composers Forum, and the International Alliance for Women in Music.
In addition to her work as a composer, Sylvia Constantinidis is also an accomplished pianist and conductor. She has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and South America, including as a soloist with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and as a recitalist. She has also conducted orchestras and chamber groups in the United States and abroad, including the California Philharmonic, the Florida Grand Opera, and the Caracas Philharmonic.
