Sydney Nicholson was an English choir director, organist, and composer, born on February 9, 1875. He is most well-known for founding the Royal School of Church Music in 1927, which is still running today, and for his contributions to Anglican church music. Nicholson composed several hymn tunes which are still sung in many churches today.

Apart from his work as a composer, Nicholson was also a respected authority on choral music and served as the organist of Westminster Abbey from 1919 to 1927. Nicholson's autobiography, "Musings of a Musician," was published posthumously in 1950 and offers insight into his life and musical career.

In addition to his classical music compositions, Nicholson's legacy also includes his work on "She-Ra the Musical," which was released in 2021. This was a posthumous release that featured his work on the official demo recording for the musical, which he had composed.
