Edmund Nick was a German composer , conductor, and music writer, born on September 22, 1891, in Reichenberg, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary (now known as Liberec, Czech Republic). He is best known for his works in the operetta and musical comedy genres, as well as for his contributions to revue productions.

Nick began his career as a composer in 1913, working as a répétiteur at the Royal Court Theater in Hanover, Germany. He later served as a conductor at various theaters across Germany, including the Theater des Westens in Berlin and the Munich Kammerspiele.

Nick's early works were heavily influenced by the Viennese operetta tradition, and he went on to become one of the leading composers in the genre. Among his most famous works are the operettas "Der Bajazzo" (1926), "Die Perlen der Cleopatra" (1928), and "Der fidele Bauer" (1931).

In addition to his work in the operetta genre, Nick also composed numerous musical comedies and revues, including "Achtung! Aufnahme!" (1937) and "Es lebe das Leben" (1938).

Nick's career suffered under the Nazi regime, due in part to his Jewish heritage. Despite this, he continued to compose and influence the German musical scene even after the war. He died on June 16, 1974, in Berlin, Germany, leaving behind a rich legacy of music and theatrical works.
