He started his career as a pianist in the early 1960s and later became a session player before moving into professional music. Gray went on to become an accomplished composer and arranger in a career that spanned over four decades. He worked extensively in the film and television industry and wrote background music for movies and TV shows. Some of his notable works include the soundtrack for the hit movie "Wedding Crashers" and the TV series "The Bill."
