Full biography Rolf Liebermann
Rolf Liebermann (September 14, 1910 – January 2, 1999) was a Swiss composer and director who made significant contributions to the fields of opera and classical music. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Liebermann began studying composition as a child, and later went on to study under some of the era's most prominent composers, including Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern.
In his early career, Liebermann achieved particular success as an opera composer. He wrote a total of seven operas, one of which he co-wrote with his wife Helene Vidal. His operas were known for their modernist style and use of atonality, which was a departure from the traditional classical music of the time.
Liebermann also worked in various administrative roles within the music industry, serving as the director of music for several European radio stations and as the director of the Paris Opera from 1973 to 1980. He also received numerous awards and honors over the course of his career, including the UNESCO International Music Council's International Music Prize and the West German Federal Cross of Merit.
Aside from his opera work, Liebermann composed a number of orchestral works, chamber music, and solo pieces for various instruments. His music is characterized by its energetic rhythms and intricate harmonies, which have earned him a reputation as one of the leading voices in modern classical music.
Overall, Rolf Liebermann's contributions to classical music have left a lasting impact on the field, and continue to be celebrated and studied by classical musicians and opera enthusiasts around the world.
