Richard Rijnvos is a Dutch composer born on December 16, 1964, in Tilburg. He is considered one of the leading composers of his generation and is widely recognized for his unique style of music characterized by lush, exotic, and precision-orchestrated compositions.

Rijnvos has written a wide range of music, including Riflesso sull'acqua for choir commissioned by the Netherlands Radio 4 , Afrique, a musical journey down the Nile, and Amrique du Sud, a piece that explores the influence of South American music on contemporary classical music. He has also composed music for specific instruments such as per voce, violoncello e, a piece for voice and cello, inspired by one of the first great female composers , Barbara Strozzi.

Rijnvos has received numerous awards and commissions throughout his career, such as the prestigious Kranichstein Music Prize in 1992 and the Fromm Foundation Commission from Harvard University in 1997. Several composers, including Gerald Barry, Christopher Fox, and Rodney Sharman, have written pieces specifically for Rijnvos, showcasing his reputation as a respected figure within the industry.
