Rafael Antonio Castellanos was a Guatemalan classical composer who lived from 1725-1791. Despite being a relatively unknown composer, his works display great artistic depth and sophistication.

Castellanos was born in Antigua Guatemala, where he studied with his uncle, the composer Manuel Jose de Quiros. He later became a chapel master at the Cathedral of Antigua, where he was in charge of composing and directing music for religious ceremonies. Castellanos' most notable works include "Oygan una Xacarilla" and "Al Demonio una vaya," both of which demonstrate his mastery of baroque writing.

Castellanos' style is marked by a blend of Baroque and Creole influences , combining the intricate harmonies and counterpoint of European music with the rhythmic vitality and melodic sensibility of native and African-inspired music.
