Pylyp Kozytskiy (1887-1967) was a Ukrainian composer and music educator who made significant contributions to the development of Ukrainian classical music in the early 20th century. He was born in the village of Pidperyshiv near the city of Kyiv, and was one of the first students of the Kyiv Conservatory.

Kozytskiy's music was deeply influenced by Ukrainian folk songs, which he incorporated into his own compositions. He was particularly interested in choral music, and composed a number of works for choirs. One of his most famous pieces is the 1921 choral symphony "Zhyttia" (Life), which was inspired by the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.

In addition to composing music, Kozytskiy was also a dedicated music educator. He taught at the Kyiv Conservatory for many years, where he had a profound influence on generations of Ukrainian musicians. He also served as the director of the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre, and was a founding member of the Ukrainian Composers' Union.

Kozytskiy's legacy in Ukrainian classical music continues to be celebrated today. His use of Ukrainian folk songs and incorporation of Ukrainian themes into his compositions helped to establish a distinct Ukrainian classical music tradition, which has since continued to evolve and develop.
