Short bio Peter Hasse
Full biography Peter Hasse
Peter Hasse was a German composer and organist of the Baroque period , born in Franconia (now part of modern-day Germany). He was a part of the Hasse family of musicians , and was the patriarch of the Lübeck house of the Hasses. He wrote masses, motets, organ variations, and preludes, and was known for his prolific output. Peter Hasse's style is typical of the Lutheran Baroque period, and his works often feature chorale preludes and cantatas. He was the son of musician Peter Hasse, and his eldest son, Nikolaus Hasse, was also a composer and organist. Despite being a prolific composer, he is not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, such as Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel. Nonetheless, his contributions to the world of Baroque music are appreciated and respected.
