Peter Aston (1938-2013) was an English composer, conductor, and academic who was known for his work in choral and church music. He was a professor of music at the University of East Anglia and was also associated with the Royal School of Church Music.

Aston composed a variety of music , but he was best known for his choral works and hymns. His compositions were often inspired by his Christian faith, and many of his works are still widely performed today. One of his most famous compositions is the choral setting of "I Give You a New Commandment," which is often sung in Christian churches around the world.

In addition to his work as a composer, Aston was also a respected conductor and music professor. He was known for his ability to communicate complex musical concepts in a way that was accessible to his students, and many of his former students went on to have successful careers in music.
