Paul de Schlozer (also known as Paul de Schlözer) was a German/Russian composer, pianist, and music teacher who lived from 1841 to 1898. He studied music in Berlin and St. Petersburg, and went on to become a prolific composer, writing over 200 works in a variety of genres, including operas, ballets, symphonies, and chamber music.

While many of Schlozer's works are not well-known today, his A-flat major Etude, Op. 1, No. 2, is a famous show-stopper that has continued to captivate audiences for well over a century. This technically demanding piece has been played by some of the greatest pianists of all time, including Sergei Rachmaninoff, who is rumored to have played the piece every day as part of his daily practice routine.

In addition to his work as a composer, Schlozer was also an accomplished pianist and teacher. He taught piano at the Moscow Conservatory, and his students included the pianist and composer Alexander Scriabin, who would go on to become one of the most innovative and influential composers of the 20th century.
