Martin Schlumpf is a Swiss composer who is known for his talents across different fields. Apart from being a composer, he is also an essayist and has written on the subject of composition. He started writing essays on composition after discovering the music of Austrian composer Anton Webern.

His compositions have been featured in various concerts in Switzerland and other parts of the world , including a concert in Zurich in January 2012 where he wrote a new piece for the Swiss Piano Trio. He has also worked on commissions, including one for the Galatea Quartet with the financial support of the Fondation SUISA.

One of his notable compositions is "Streams," a double concerto for clarinet , bass trombone, and 17 instruments that was released in 2013 under the Navona Records label. The piece was well-received, with one reviewer describing it as "a highly creative and mesmerizing work."

In addition to his music, Schlumpf is also known for his practice of jazz bass and classical cello. His diverse passions and talents have allowed him to explore many facets of the musical world, and he is recognized as one of the outstanding Swiss composers of his era.
