Miloslav Kabelac (1 August 1908 - 17 September 1979) was a Czech composer and conductor. One of the finest modern Czech composers, Kabelac was inspired throughout his life by Czech folklore and incorporated a variety of modern and avant-garde techniques in his works. He is generally recognized within the Czech Republic as a major composer of the 20th century.

Kabelac's works often featured themes of suffering , spirituality, and cosmic forces. Following the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, he fell out of favor with the authorities due to his refusal to compromise his artistic vision. He experienced a creative resurgence in the 1970s, producing a series of symphonies and other works.

Kabelac's most notable works include his eight symphonies, the oratorio "Mystery of Time," the opera "Vespro della Beata Vergine," and "Music for Strings." He also wrote extensively for chamber ensembles and solo instruments.

Despite his significance within the Czech Republic, Kabelac's music remains relatively unknown outside of his homeland. However, his compositions have been championed by a number of conductors and performers over the years, including Jiří Bělohlávek, Václav Neumann, and Sir Charles Mackerras.

Overall, Miloslav Kabelac is regarded as one of the most important and distinctive voices in Czech music of the 20th century.
