Marco Tutino is an Italian composer born in Milan. He studied flute and composition at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milano and later made his debut as a composer. Tutino is known as a "neo-romanticist" composer in Italy and has been praised for his lushly expressive scores. One of his most notable works is the opera "Two Women (La Ciociara)" which was commissioned by the San Francisco Opera in 2015 and conducted by Nicola Luisotti. The opera drew inspiration from the 1942 novel of the same name by Alberto Moravia. Tutino himself wrote the libretto for the opera and it was well received by audiences and critics alike. The opera premiered to ten minutes of applause and was described as a work of neo-verismo. Tutino has also composed other works such as "Le braci" which was performed in 2015 in Turin. Overall, Tutino is a talented composer who has made significant contributions to the world of opera in Italy and around the world.
