Louis-Gabriel Guillemain was a French Baroque composer and violinist who lived from 1705 until 1770. He was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, and was a member of a family of musicians. Guillemain began his career as a violinist in the Chapel Royal in Versailles, performing for King Louis XV.

Guillemain wrote many works for the violin, including sonatas, trios, quartets, and concertos. He also wrote a number of vocal works, including cantatas and operas. His music is characterized by its lyrical melodies, expressive harmonies, and stirring rhythms.

In addition to his work as a composer, Guillemain was known for his virtuosity on the violin. He was especially admired for his ability to play the difficult double stops and ornamentation in his music. His compositions were greatly influential in the development of the French Baroque style, and his legacy can be seen in the works of later composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau and François Couperin.

Despite his many accomplishments, Guillemain's life ended in tragedy. In 1770, he was found dead in his home, along with his wife and daughter. The exact circumstances surrounding their deaths remain a mystery to this day. Nevertheless, Guillemain's music continues to be celebrated for its beauty and brilliance, and his legacy as a Baroque composer remains intact.
