Leonid Oleksandrovych Hrabovsky was a contemporary Ukrainian composer born on January 28, 1935 in Kyiv, Ukraine. He is known for his compositions for various ensembles such as the choir, orchestra, and piano. Hrabovsky started his career in music as a child prodigy, and later studied at the Kyiv Conservatory, where he was a student of Boris Lyatoshynsky.

Hrabovsky is recognized for his arrangements, which are characterized by the freedom of treatment and good choral writing. The Ukrainian Songs by Hrabovsky were praised by renowned composer Dmitry Shostakovich who said that they pleased him immensely.

Hrabovsky emigrated to the United States, where he assumed the position of a Professor of Composition at the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. He continued to compose, and his works are performed in various parts of the world. Some of his notable compositions include EQVIN, which is for violin and piano and is dedicated in memory of his father, who was once a violinist.

Apart from his contributions to music, Hrabovsky also worked on the method of algorithmic composition since the 1960s. Overall, Leonid Hrabovsky left a mark in the world of music through his compositions and arrangements that continue to be appreciated even today.
