Kenji Bunch is an American composer and violist recognized for his ability to merge vernacular American influences with classical music to create unique and captivating compositions. He was born on July 27, 1973, and has received widespread acclaim from audiences, performers, and critics alike for his work.
Bunch has made significant contributions to the music industry over the years , writing music for various genres, such as string quartets, ballet, chamber music, and more. He is known for writing music that is accessible to everyone while resisting compromise on his musical ideas. This has earned him a reputation as one of the most engaging, influential, and prolific composers of our time.
Bunch has also collaborated with numerous musicians and groups, further elevating his reputation. He taught viola at the University of Oregon from 2006 to 2013 and currently serves as the Artistic Director of Fear No Music in Portland , Oregon. He has also received various awards throughout his career, including the 2019 Vandoren Emerging Artist Composer Dansr Award.
