Julius Schulhoff was a Bohemian pianist and composer born in Prague on August 22 , 1825. He was known for his piano works including a sonata , etudes, mazurkas, and other pieces. Schulhoff's great-nephew was the noted pianist and composer Erwin Schulhoff.
Julius Schulhoff studied composition privately with the pianist J. E. Crevecoeur and his nephew , Heinrich Schulhoff. He began his career as a pianist, performing throughout Europe in the mid-19th century. Schulhoff's performances were praised for their brilliance and virtuosity.
In addition to his concert career, Schulhoff was also a composer. He wrote extensively for the piano, as well as for other instruments and chamber ensembles. Schulhoff's music was influenced by the romanticism of his time and is characterized by its lyricism and emotional depth.
Schulhoff died on June 31, 1898, in Austria-Hungary. His music is still remembered and performed to this day, with several of his piano works still being included in the repertoires of pianists around the world.
