Full biography Julio de Caro
Julio de Caro was an Argentine composer, conductor, and bandoneon player known for his contributions to the development of tango music. Born in Buenos Aires in 1899, he was part of a prominent musical family that helped shape the city's tango scene. With his father and brothers, he formed the De Caro brothers orchestra, a group that became a sensation in Buenos Aires in the 1920s.
Julio de Caro's music was characterized by complex harmonies, intricate arrangements, and a refined sense of musical structure that distinguished him from other tango composers of his time. His compositions were influenced by European classical music as well as the traditional sounds of Argentina, resulting in a fusion of styles that revolutionized tango music.
During the 1920s and 1930s, Julio de Caro and his orchestra recorded hundreds of songs, including classics like "Loca Bohemia," "La Rayuela," and "El Monito". He also formed the Sexteto Julio de Caro, which featured some of the most prominent Tango musicians of the time, including bandoneonist Pedro Maffia and violinist Elvino Vardaro. The sextet's recordings, such as "Mi noche triste" and "Madreselva," remain some of the most beloved tango classics of all time.
De Caro's music influenced generations of tango musicians and composers, including Astor Piazzolla, who credited him as an important inspiration for his Nuevo Tango style. Even today, Julio de Caro's music remains an integral part of the Argentine cultural heritage, and his legacy continues to inspire new generations of Tango musicians around the world.
