Judith Lang Zaimont is an American composer whose works have been performed internationally by renowned orchestras and ensembles. Born in 1945 in Memphis, Tennessee, she showed an early interest in music and began playing piano at the age of 4.

Zaimont went on to study at several esteemed institutions, including the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Columbia University, and Brandeis University. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota in 1975, where she later served as a professor for over 20 years.

Her music is known for its strong rhythms, inventive melodies, and emotional depth. Zaimont has been hailed as one of America's most distinctive and respected composers. Her catalog includes more than 130 works for orchestra, chamber groups, soloists, and voice.
