Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, also known as Zachau, was a German composer and musician born on November 14, 1663 in Leipzig, Germany. He passed away on August 7, 1712 in Halle, Germany. Zachow was known for his compositions of vocal and keyboard music and is often considered a forgotten genius of the Baroque period.

Zachow was also a notable organist and teacher, and his most famous student was the well-known composer George Frideric Handel. In fact, Handel's father hired Zachow to be his instructor while he was growing up in Halle. Zachow's legacy as a composer and educator is much greater than the small recognition he receives in modern times.

While Zachow's compositions were known mostly during his time, his name is not as well-known today. However, his music continues to be appreciated by music enthusiasts who recognize the beauty and intricacy of his compositions.
