He was the son of Kermit Roosevelt, the grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt , and the great-grandson of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Roosevelt began his musical training at a young age, studying under renowned composers such as Nadia Boulanger and Aaron Copland.
