Johannes Spech was a Hungarian composer who lived from December 10, 1767, to November 24, 1836. He was born in Timisoara in present-day Romania, but he spent most of his life working in Hungary. Spech was a highly respected musician known for his contributions to classical music during the Classical era. He wrote numerous pieces in a variety of musical genres, including piano music, chamber music, and operas.

Spech's musical education began at an early age when he studied with his musician father, Michael Spech. Later, he studied at the Vienna Conservatory where he was a student of Michael Haydn. Spech returned to Hungary and spent the majority of his career in service to various Hungarian aristocratic families, including the Eszterházy family.

Despite his significant contributions to classical music, Spech's compositions are not as widely known or performed as those of some of his better-known contemporaries. Nonetheless, his music is still admired for its inventiveness, technical skill, and lyrical beauty.

Johannes Spech passed away in Hungary on November 24, 1836, at the age of 68. His legacy lives on through his music, which continues to be appreciated by classical music enthusiasts and scholars alike.
