Full biography Johannes Frederik Frohlich
Johannes Frederik Frølich (or Frohlich) was a Danish conductor, violinist, and composer, active during the Romantic period. He was born on August 21, 1806, and passed away on May 21, 1860, at the age of 53. Frølich was a contemporary of notable composers such as Niels Gade and J.P.E. Hartmann, whom he also influenced, but unfortunately, much of his music has been lost over time.
Frølich was a prolific composer, known for his music for the ballets of Bournonville. He also wrote instrumental music, including violin concertos, string quartets, and symphonies. Frølich's compositions were characterized by their romantic melodies, rich harmonies, and intricate orchestration.
Despite his talent and influence on Danish music during his lifetime, Frølich's music has largely been forgotten in modern times, with only a few recordings available for streaming. Nonetheless, he remains an important figure in Danish music history and his contributions helped pave the way for later generations of composers in Denmark.
