Full biography Johann Lorenz Bach
Johann Lorenz Bach was a German composer born on February 18, 1695, and died on March 23, 1773. He was a member of the famous Bach family that produced some of the most significant composers in the Baroque era. Johann Lorenz Bach was a cousin and contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Johann Lorenz Bach was born in the town of Meiningen in Germany, where he received his early music education from his father, Johann Heinrich Bach. In his youth, he served in several positions as an organist in Germany. In 1733, Johann Lorenz Bach moved to Eisenach, where he worked for the court, first as court chamber musician, then as a court composer.
Johann Lorenz Bach composed an opera, oratorio, cantatas, and music for chamber ensembles during his career. His most famous works include the cantata "Es erhub sich ein Streit," and a set of sonatas for flute, violin, and continuo. Johann Lorenz Bach was known for his Bach-style contrapuntal writing, chromatic harmonies, and refined melody, which made his music stand out from other composers of his era.
Although Johann Lorenz Bach was considered a talented composer, he remained relatively unknown to scholars and musicians for many years after his death. Today, however, his compositions are once again being appreciated for their exquisite beauty and technical mastery.
