Johann Ernst Bach was a German composer who lived from 1722 to 1777. He was born in Eisenach, Germany, and was the youngest son of Johann Sebastian Bach's older brother, Johann Christoph Bach. Johann Ernst Bach composed music in various genres, including symphonies, concertos, chamber music, and vocal music.

Johann Ernst Bach learned music composition from his father and his older brother, Johann Christoph Bach. Later, he continued his studies under Johann Sebastian Bach, who instilled in him a love for counterpoint and harmony. In 1742, Johann Ernst Bach became the court musician and chamber composer at the court of Saxe-Weimar.

Johann Ernst Bach's compositions were significantly influenced by his uncle and father, and they reflected their styles of Baroque music. He was known for his contrapuntal style and his attention to detail in the harmonies. In his compositions, he integrated polyphony and tonality to create functional harmonies that entertained and inspired listeners.

Some of Johann Ernst Bach's most notable compositions include his six symphonies, which were composed in the 1760s and spanned all the standard movements of the era. He also composed numerous concertos, sonatas, and chamber music pieces, including his trios, which reflected his contrapuntal style and his ability to combine and weave melodies.

Although Johann Ernst Bach's music was successful during his lifetime, it became somewhat overshadowed by the popularity of his uncle Johann Sebastian and his father Johann Christoph Bach's works. However, in recent years, there has been renewed interest in Johann Ernst Bach's music, and his works have been rediscovered by the musical community and have earned recognition for their musical ingenuity and complexity.
