Johann Gottlieb Naumann (1741-1801) was a German composer known for his contributions to the field of opera during the late 18th century. He was born near Dresden and spent a significant portion of his career in Sweden, where he was twice called to reform the Royal Court Orchestra and to work with King Gustav III on his opera plans.

Naumann wrote music for a variety of genres , including operas, symphonies, and chamber music. He was also known for his compositions of choral music and hymns, with some of his works still being used in church services today. In addition to his compositions, Naumann also wrote music for masonic rituals and was an influential figure in the development of Swedish opera during the late 1700s.

One of Naumann's most famous works is the opera "Gustaf Wasa," which is regarded as one of the first operas to incorporate Swedish national themes. He also wrote the music for the hymn "DRESDEN (Amen)," which is still widely sung in churches today. Naumann died in Dresden at the age of 60.
