Jean Hure was a French composer, pianist, organist, and writer on music, born on September 17, 1877, in Gien, Loiret, France. He was known for his contributions to chamber music and wrote many works in this genre, including two string quartets, a piano trio, and a piano quintet in D major, which is considered to be one of his most famous compositions. Jean Hure was active during the early 20th century and was part of a group of French composers who embraced the modernism movement in music.

Apart from being a composer, Jean Hure was also a writer on music and started a monthly journal named La Musique française in 1924. He contributed articles on various topics related to music and was considered an authority on French music of his time. Hure's compositions were notable for their harmonic complexity and use of unusual sounds and timbres.

Jean Hure sadly passed away on January 27, 1930, in Paris, at the age of 52. Despite his relatively short career, he left a lasting impact on French music and is remembered as a significant figure of the early 20th century modernism movement.
